The RTL Group is a media company based in Luxembourg, with interests in television, radio, online video and content production. As you might expect, this makes for an arresting collection of images – popular actors, singers, sports stars; stills from television shows, live concerts and so on.
The report is accompanied by a small booklet that provides an at-a-glance version of the main report. The booklet is pocket-sized, designed perhaps to encourage readers to keep it with them.
The type treatment in the report is simple and effective, making use of two sans serif typefaces – thin and tall for titles and light and round for body text. The only concession made to the vibrancy of the photography is a slight upward tilt suggesting speed and dynamism.
Photography receives careful treatment, especially the formal, group portraits (in a style reminiscent of Annie Leibovitz’s work) and the photo-editing is very good. Images where a background must be removed, in particular, are neatly handled.
The first art of the report (corporate information) uses a light cream semi-matte stock, enriching he already vibrant images. The second part of the report uses a sharp, white, uncoated stock for easy reading.
